Medilusan® Vet Wound Care – Cleansing, Disinfection & Crust Removal

Medilusan® Vet Wound Care is a spray solution for the external cleansing and disinfection of wounds in horses and other pets. It is particularly effective for loosening and removing crusts and scabs—such as those associated with mud fever or pastern dermatitis—and optimally prepares the wound for further treatment with ointments or dressings.

Mode of Action

The solution is based on active chlorine derived from hypochlorous acid (HOCl), produced via an electrolytic oxidation process. This process enables broad-spectrum germ reduction, effectively targeting bacteria, viruses, fungi, and even resistant biofilms. After application, the active ingredient rapidly breaks down, leaving behind a pure physiological saline solution—without harmful residues.

Application

Spray the affected area generously or moisten it using a soaked cloth.

Allow crusts to soften, then carefully remove them.

Repeat daily until the wound is clean and closed.

If desired, apply Medilusan® Vet Wound Gel afterwards for protection.
