It initially comes as a flat, hard plate. By heating it (with a hot air dryer, in the microwave or in the oven) it becomes soft and malleable after a few minutes. When heated, it can be shaped into any anatomical shape. After cooling, the material becomes hard again and retains its given shape. In addition to being used as horse eye protection, Woodcast is also often used for plaster casts or splints. When heated, it is also self-adhesive and can therefore be used in several layers.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHow does the shaping of the Woodcast eye spacer work?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFirst, the woodcast plate must be heated in the microwave, oven or with a hot air dryer. After a few minutes the material becomes soft. The flexible plate can now be adapted to the horse's head and a cavity can be formed as required. (Important: Do not place the warm plate directly on the horse's fur, but leave the VetMedCare protective mask in between!). Alternatively, it is also possible to place the heated plate over a small bowl or similar shaped object to create the desired shape. Excess material is cut off and glued to the center of the bulge as additional reinforcement. Then carefully pull the spacer to the desired length and width and shape the edges round. If necessary, press the snap fasteners into the still warm material. After cooling, the eye spacer is as hard as before.
